Our Mission

The Bismarck Art & Galleries Association works consistently to stimulate the study and presentation of the visual arts, to encourage and expand participation and appreciation by all persons, and to preserve our regional cultural heritage.

History

We are a private non-profit art gallery that got its start when the Elan Gallery and the Bismarck Art Gallery joined forces back in 1983. The combined galleries became Bismarck Art & Galleries Association or BAGA, for short.

BAGA is located at 422 E Front Avenue in Bismarck, in a charming, historic building that was previously the Burlington Northern Railroad warehouse. The vaulted ceilings and brick arches are full of history and character. With stunning art on the walls, it makes an amazing venue for private gatherings. Located in downtown Bismarck, the gallery is close to many local restaurants, the Art Alley and other attractions.

The building features 153 running feet of exhibition space in the Main Gallery and an additional 44 running feet in the Member Gallery. There is also a giftshop, classroom, a full kitchen, and a flexible gallery space for rentals.

The gallery offers new exhibits monthly – showcasing the works of more than 200 artists per year. Outside of five group exhibitions per year, where member and non-member artists, and students, participate, we feature two artists every month. We also hold classes, lectures, and social events in the gallery space.

Every August, we host and produce the Capital A’Fair – a large summer art festival on the North Dakota State Capitol grounds.
