52 Years of Art, Fun, and Summer Tradition at Capital A’Fair
This August, the Capitol Mall will once again be filled with white canopies as BAGA celebrates the 52nd anniversary of Capital A’Fair, one of Bismarck’s most beloved summer traditions.
The event began in 1974 as a small outdoor art fair hosted by Elan Gallery on the front lawn of a historic home. As interest grew, it moved to the North Dakota State Capitol Grounds and eventually expanded along the Capitol Mall, evolving into the large-scale celebration of art, food, and entertainment that it is today.
Each year, planning begins in January, and the fair now draws artists and crafters from across the country. With live music, food vendors, artist booths, and hands-on experiences, Capital A’Fair continues to be a highlight of the summer season.
